One of the breed facts of a Redbone Coonhound is a medium sized breed of dog that was referred to as the “Saddleback” back in the early 1900s. This particular type of breed was bred to hunt raccoons. The Redbone Coonhound has been known to hunt and tree bears and cougars. This breed has also been used in waterfowel hunting as well. Their surefootedness allows them to continuously hunt on any type of terrain; swamplands to mountains. They are considered to be excellent hunters.
